The stars on listings are real now

Rating stars on every listing now reflect what volunteers actually said. Listings with no feedback show nothing rather than a placeholder, and organizations can respond to the reviews they receive.

This week's release is about finishing with fewer second guesses. The biggest change lands at the end of the listing flow, then carries forward into clearer schedule details and calmer account emails.

Section 01

Each star comes from an actual review

The number beside the star on every listing used to be the same for everyone. It is now the average of the ratings volunteers have left. If nobody has reviewed an opportunity yet, the star block does not appear.

  • Listings with reviews show their real average, rounded to one decimal.
  • Listings with no reviews show no rating at all, rather than a placeholder.
  • The review count appears alongside the star so you know how much weight to give it.

Section 02

Organizations can respond to what they hear

When a volunteer leaves a review, the organization can now reply directly on the listing page. Both sides of that exchange are visible to anyone who reads through the listing.

  • Organizations can add a short response beneath any review they receive.
  • Responses appear in place, next to the original review.
  • Prospective volunteers can read the exchange before deciding whether to apply.
